The Secret
I drifted through the hazy streaks of light. I groggily blinked my eyes open, wide to take in my blaring surroundings. I realized with horror that I was in the middle of a city, a human city! I looked down at the stained cement and avoided their gaze. If they looked into my eyes, they would discover the secret. If they discovered the secret, they'd get suspicions. Suspicions equal nothing but disaster. I paused my thoughts for a moment, streaking for an abandoned building. It was blown to ruins now, and I sheltered around the heavy blocks. Yet something caught my eye. Drifting by, alone, was a girl about my age. She crawled down and called deep inside, sending hopeful echos bouncing around the walls. I crawled deeper into the mass of dust. I only looked up once. Yet at that exact moment, she looked straight into my eyes... yet she didn't scream. "Who are you?" She questioned. I didn't answer. I knew she wanted to ask what are you. yet at least she hadn't asked quite yet. "Why do your eyes look like that?" She wondered, shifting her gaze towards mine. I looked away. "Nothing." I replied. She crawled forward. I sighed. "I'm a sprite." I hastily explained. "A sprite?" She hid a laugh. "That's a type of soda!" "Also A type of creature." I quietly announced. Her smile stopped. Finally, I gave away my secret.
